Walking Maps

Walking is the most popular form of physical among adults. Maps, trails, signage and stencilling are important resources in promoting local facilities for walking. They enable locals and visitors to be aware of walking routes or trails, plus offer more specific information such as historical, geographic or natural features of an area, which can add interest to a walk. Not only do these materials encourage local people to walk, they can encourage visitors to stay longer and to access other facilities and services in the community.

One barrier that people identify for not walking is a lack of knowledge of where to walk. Provision of a map with walking information is a good way to reduce this barrier and encourage people to explore the local area.
