Resources & Information Sharing

With 40% of the Western Australian adult population not getting enough physical activity for their health, the work being done by Local, State, National and non-Government agencies to develop local opportunities to be healthy and physically active needs to be widely promoted.

The following information will assist local governments in their efforts to increase physical activity.

What Local Governments Are Already Doing

Local governments can assist by raising the profile of the benefits of physical activity for health and increasing knowledge, awareness and understanding of the wider co-benefits of physical activity.

National Physical Activity Guidelines

The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing have developed a set of national physical activity guideline brochures for children, adults and older Australians.

Case Studies

A number of case studies have been collated including best practice local government initiatives in relation to policy and planning, walking, programs and services, the built environment and sample physical activity plans.

Grants & Funding Opportunities

A Physical Activity Grants and Funding Matrix and a number of resources have been collated to assist groups and organisations with their funding applications.
