Developed by the Department of Health, the following information sheet provides guidance on public health considerations to be taken into account when planning residential estates, precincts and urban developments. The information included is intended for State Government, local governments and developers.

The following five key health factors are covered:

  • Air quality;
  • Water quality;
  • Land and hazard management;
  • Radiation safety; and,
  • Communities.

The Public Health Division of the Department of Health also provides appropriate public health assesment tools for proponents and decision makers to ensure public health is addressed in the early planning stages of any proposal.
