The Department of Transport produces and distributes a range of comprehensive cycling brochures, which can be downloaded from the cycling section of their website.

Brochures available form the Department of Transport website include:

  • Cycling for health, pleasure or to work;
  • Cycling on roads and shared paths;
  • Cycling at night;
  • Basic bicycle maintenance;
  • Cycling for all ages;
  • Cycling and the law;
  • Shopping by bike;
  • Bikes on trains;
  • How to safely cycle the Nullarbor;
  • Riding safely on shared paths;
  • Bicycle skills for children - home activity sheets; and,
  • Set your children on the right path - a guide to promoting walking and cycling to school.


Other Cycling and Active Transport Information

The Department of Transport also coordinate a number of cycling campaigns, provide a number of maps and guides and communicate a whole range of cycling news and information.

The Department of Transport also run the TravelSmart program, aimed at increasing the number of people walking and cycling for transport.

The Physical Activity Taskforce worked with the Department of Transport to develop a number of TravelSmart fact sheets.

The active transport agenda was a key priority area for the Physical Activity Taskforce as walking and cycling for transport are important contributors to increasing levels of physical activity in Western Australia.
