The Physical Activity Taskforce is chaired by the Hon T K Waldron, Minister for Sport and Recreation. The group has senior representation from The Departments of Health; Education and Training; Sport and Recreation; and Transport; the Western Australian Local Government Association; Healthway; Lotterywest and leading academics and community representatives.
The Taskforce has established three working groups to advise on key areas during the development of the physical activity strategy. The groups are:
It guides the development of communications operations for the Taskforce and assists the Manager of Communications and Advocacy to develop and implement communications strategies targeting professional and public stakeholders.

The Evaluation and Monitoring Working Group (EMWG) comprises representatives from the Cancer Council of WA (Chairperson), the Departments of Education and Training, Health, Sport and Recreation, Transport, National Heart Foundation, Healthway, Curtin University of Technology, Edith Cowan University and the Physical Activity Taskforce Secretariat.

The Local Government Working Group (LGWG) comprises representatives from the Physical Activity Taskforce Secretariat, the Departments of Health, Education, Sport and Recreation, Transport, Healthway, Western Australian Local Government Association, Lotterywest and thirteen local governments including the City of Wanneroo (Chairperson).

The Walk WA Strategic Implementation Group (Walk WA SIG) comprises representatives from the WA Local Government Association; Main Roads WA; Office of Crime Prevention; WA Police; the National Heart Foundation (WA); the Departments of Education and Training, Environment and Conservation, Health, Transport, and Sport and Recreation; and the Physical Activity Taskforce Secretariat.
Walk WA SIG facilitates, oversees, monitors and evaluates the implementation of Walk WA: A Walking Strategy for Western Australia 2007 – 2020 (Walk WA). It also aims to provide and foster a forum for cross-agency collaboration to bring about a more integrated, coordinated and enhanced response to increase walking in Western Australia.
